Historical Society - Portland

Maine Historical Society Library contains the largest
collection of historical maps, books, and manuscripts concerning
Maine's past, even to prehistoric time.

Center for Maine History is a gallery of artifacts from
Maine's past, including some of Americas greatest treasures. Also a
museum shop on the Congress street level.
- The
Historic Wadsworth-Longfellow House, the birthplace of Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow and the center of Portland's social, intellectual,
and political life of the Nineteenth Century.

non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the permanence of the arts
in Maine community life. We are situated in 15 beautiful acres of

Society
for the Preservation of New England Antiquities - Boston
SPNEA collects and preserves
buildings, landscapes, and objects dating from the 17th Century to the
present. It owns and operates 35 historic properties in five New
England states. Five of these properties are in Maine and open to the
